Hello Ron,
Attached are several photos of our project and your V-Tex pump/sprayer at work. We are applying a lime based stucco to a straw bale home with approximately 2500 square feet of wall area. As you can see we have the scratch coat on and are now half way finished applying the brown coat. I have been pleased with the unit, the gasoline engine powered model.
Our plastering crew consists of four men who have been working together in the stucco/plaster business for many years. Since they had been doing a lot of commercial stucco work, with much larger piston pump units feeding 3" hoses, they were initially a bit skeptical of the V-Tex due to its small size. But they have been impressed with the V-Tex's performance. It will spray faster than one man on the 6 cubic foot mixer can mix the mud.
The "nozzle man" was very complimentary of the easy to use controls, the on-the-nozzle switch, and the light weight hose. He told me that a man with one of these pumps and mixer would have all he needed to go into business for himself.
All in all, I am pleased with the unit. It has made it possible for us to plaster our straw bale home at a very competitive cost.
My crew tells me that your unit is about as sensitive to "gravel plugging" as their bigger piston pump units. We have had to screen all of the mud into the pump hopper to prevent gun and hose plugging. I don't really see this as a drawback to the unit, just an operational caution. And it may be a function of the bulk sand we are using - no quality control on the bulk product compared to bagged material.
See how we did it.
